Addiction is a treatable, chronic medical disease involving complex interactions among brain circuits, genetics, the environment, and an individual’s life experience. At QuinnEssential Healthcare, we work to provide medication-assisted treatment for addiction with Suboxone and Naltrexone, helping to relieve withdrawal symptoms and psychological cravings that cause chemical imbalances within the body. These evidence-based treatment options are often used to treat alcohol and opioid disorders and do not substitute one drug for another.

ADHD Testing and Treatment

ADHD Testing and Treatment

At QuinnEssential Healthcare, we are passionate about Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) services and offer advanced ADHD testing to our patients through QbTests. QbTests are advanced ADHD tests cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to diagnose and treat ADHD symptoms. These 15-20-minute age-specific tests will measure your ability to maintain attention and impulse control. To learn more about our ADHD testing services, watch the videos below, or contact us today!

Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQS

Medication-Assisted Treatment FAQs

  • Are appointment records kept anonymous at QuinnEssential Healthcare?

We do not disclose treatment or participation in any medication-assisted treatment programs at QuinnEssential Healthcare. Due to federal laws protecting personal health information for those seeking treatment, we welcome anonymous calls to learn more and begin a conversation.

  • Who is a good candidate for medication-assisted treatment?

Medication-assisted treatment programs provide services for independent patients capable of caring for themselves on a day-to-day basis. While people at different stages of the recovery process require different levels of care and intervention, we work to see our patients on a monthly basis for regular maintenance visits with our addiction specialists. If you have concerns regarding the regimen provided, we can refer you to a more intensive treatment provider.

  • What can I expect at my first appointment?

You should expect to allow an hour for your first appointment as you will provide our staff with a urine sample, have your vitals taken, and detail your history with addiction. Once you have undergone these initial stages of the appointment, one of our addiction specialists will determine what the best regimen will be for treatment, and you will receive a follow-up notification from your counselor within the next few days.

  • How frequently will I attend scheduled appointments?

For the first few weeks of treatment, patients will visit our clinic weekly to monitor their dosage. Once patients are stable and comfortable with their dosage, they will be scheduled for monthly visits with our addiction experts.

  • What if I need additional assistance between appointments?

Please contact us online or call us at (316) 364-4100 for additional assistance. While we try to follow-up with each of our patients shortly after their initial appointment, please do not hesitate to contact us if you are experiencing discomfort or have further questions.

  • Will I be subjected to regular drug testing?

We will collect a urine sample at each visit. If you have further questions concerning our drug screening practices, please contact us online or call us at (316) 364-4100 for additional assistance.

  • Do I need to be in withdrawal before taking Suboxone or Naltrexone?

It is recommended to be in “mild withdrawal” according to the Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS). If you are not yet experiencing these mild withdrawal symptoms, you may risk sending yourself into severe withdrawal (precipitated withdrawal) after taking your first dose of medication. Be honest with your healthcare provider about your drug history to ensure a smooth transition to Suboxone or Naltrexone.

  • What are the side effects of these medications?

While all medications may have slightly different side effects, it is essential to consult with your doctor or addiction specialist to discuss your concerns for your prescribed medication. For Suboxone, side effects are usually mild but may be exacerbated if combined with other substances. Contact us today to learn more about the potential side effects of medication-assisted treatment!

  • Can I carry my medication with me?

While we recommend leaving any medication in a secure place, you may find it necessary to bring your medication with you when leaving the house. If you choose to bring your medication with you, take the fewest tablets or films you can and always bring the original box or bottle with your printed information and prescription. As long as you have this printed prescription, you should not face any problems by carrying your medication.

  • Am I trading one addiction for another by seeking out medication-assisted treatment?

By seeking out medication-assisted treatment, you are not trading one addiction for another. Because the active ingredient in Suboxone is Buprenorphine, an opioid, it is considered a “partial agonist”, meaning that you will not get high while taking this medication, but you will be able to avoid withdrawal symptoms and cravings. While taking Buprenorphine, you will remain dependent on opioids and should seek additional support when tapering off the medication. We are here to help with this process!

Here are some tips to bark about from our resident therapy dog, Otherwise

When experiencing an anxiety attack, stay grounded with these tips:

  1. Close your eyes
  2. Take a deep breath and relax your muscles
  3. Picture your happy place
  4. Put all your focus on one thing (for me that’s chewing on my favorite bone!)
  5. Repeat a soothing mantra until you feel like yourself again
